Donor-Advised Funds

What is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A Donor-Advised Fund is another way to make charitable contributions to your favorite causes. This option allows you to make charitable contributions to your Donor-Advised Fund and then receive an immediate tax deduction. Your DAF sponsoring organization can invest the funds you put in it in order to build more funds, and you can recommend grants from your Donor-Advised Fund that you want donated to charitable organizations.

Why use a Donor-Advised Fund?

Your Donor-Advised sponsoring organization will handle all disbursements, recordkeeping, and tax receipts. If you wish, your privacy can be upheld through anonymous donations. There are also flexibility and tax efficiency benefits.

Most reputable tax-exempt charities accept Donor-Advised Funds as their popularity has grown significantly in recent years. Orem Community Foundation is grateful for any grants given to us through Donor-Advised Funds.

The DAF Direct button above accepts donations from three major Donor Advised Fund sponsoring organizations: Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon. If your Donor Advised Fund is not a part of these three, you may still donate through your Donor Advised Fund using our tax ID: EIN# 81-0625490.

In the DAF Direct tool above, first select the sponsoring organization of your Donor-Advised Fund. The Designation area is for you to choose where you would like your funds to be spent:

  • General Fund
  • Human Services
  • Public Safety
  • Education
  • Arts
  • Recreation
  • Infrastructure
  • …or any of our special funding initiatives.

Lastly, indicate the amount you would like to give. We will be in contact with you about your donation and how it was spent.

Together, we can help meet the needs of Orem residents and improve our city.
